Medieval Weapons - Medieval Armor - Medieval Helmets

Monday, April 28

Many of the swords and daggers that we carry come with a plaque or some sort of stand, but a large number do not. So what's a good way to show off your new collection piece? Well, head on over to our Sword Stands & Plaques section for a wide variety of stands, plaques, cases, and cleaning supplies. We also have a number of stands, frames, and hangers for all of our replica guns.

One thing you must consider before choosing a plaque or stand is how you want to display your weapon; vertical, horizontal, hung, or on a desk or table...these are probably the most important considerations you have to take into account. There are some blades that for whatever reason, seem better being displayed one way over another. Take the Samurai sword, for example, these types of blades seem very well suited to horizontal display on a cabinet or desk rather than being hung on a wall, especially when grouped with multiple blades. Many European style blades tend to look great hanging vertically on the wall since many of us are used to seeing them hanging on a Medieval castle's wall in a photo or movie. Other swords look great standing out on their own on a vertical floor stand; a lot of functional swords go this route.

Whatever the case may be, we have a great selection in this site that pretty much covers all the various angles you're likely to come across in any display or storage scenario. Stop by and have a look today!

Well, any LOTR fan by now knows that today it was announced that Guillermo del Toro was named to direct The Hobbit and it's follow on sequel. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh aren't far away though as they'll be working with Guillermo and overseeing everything. Based on what we've seen from Guillermo, I think it's safe to say that we're in good hands...I know everyone's looking forward to seeing the films. For anyone not familiar with the plans, The Hobbit covers Bilbo Baggins and the sequel will cover the 60 years that run between the period of Bilbo's adventures and the LOTR series.

Naturally, New Zealand will play a pivotal role as it did in the LOTR films since WETA will be creating Middle Earth again, which means we're probably going to see some fantastic props in keeping with the high quality Lord of the Rings Swords we've had for a few years now. I suspect we'll see some familiar things, but I also think we're going to see a great many new things to feed our Tolkien collection diet! No matter what, it's good to see that The Hobbit has untangled itself from all the legal webs that shrouded it for a few years and will be allowed to add to the magical world Jackson's managed to put together for us so far.

You may or may not have noticed, but we have finally received the long awaited NECA 300 Leonidas Spartan Helmet and now have it available in extremely limited quantities! If you're not familiar with the story behind these helmets, then I invite you to cruise through our blog's archives to get a sense of what's been going on. In a nutshell though, we're approaching the anniversary of when the helmets were originally supposed to be released.

From the stories we've heard from NECA and others, the helmets, part of our popular 300 Spartan Swords section, started from a prototype image and worked its way through a number of design changes and manufacturing wrinkles over the past 9 months. As we neared the end of 2007, each month was marked by an endless series of time line changes and it wasn't until January of this year that we received somewhat concrete word that the helmet would indeed see a release date in April, but thanks to production issues, probably wouldn't be produced for too long.

Anyway, here we are in April and we have indeed received the helmets we ordered long ago. The helmets do not really resemble the original prototype images except perhaps in the basic styling. They're also a lot more fragile than we anticipated, making them great display pieces, but probably not too suitable for "everyday" costume wear. Now don't get me wrong, they don't look bad, they just look a little different than what we were expecting.

So, if you're a 300 fan, I urge you to pick up one today from this website before they're all gone...I do not expect that we'll get any more of those helmets based on the last word we had from NECA.

Are you looking for a great gift for one of your family members or friends, but don't want to put a replica sword or dagger in their hands? One sure hit with kids and adults alike is any of our great looking Harry Potter Movie Props.

We've carried Harry Potter props for quite awhile and I have to say that they are probably one of our most popular sections. We feature a pretty extensive selection of excellent quality wands from the movie series that aren't your typical plastic or "fall apart when it departs the box" toys. With the exception of the cool illuminating wands, such as Harry Potter's Illuminating Wand, which by default have a little bit different construction, our authentic wands feature porcelain handles with real wooden shafts.

It's fascinating to watch children's eyes light up when they hold a piece of Hogwart's magic in their hands and adults who are familiar with the series will appreciate the quality craftsman that goes into each of our movie replicas. Get yours today only from Replica Dungeon!

Gun control is one of those topics that always riles folks up and it's something I'm not going to get into here, but its side effects do impact our ability to get non-firing Replica Guns into some people's hands. Many of our customers are quite surprised by this, but the fact is that there are simply some locations that prohibit their citizens from getting a hold of what essentially amounts to non-functional display pieces.

We've seen a substantial rise in the popularity of our Replica Firearms from both our US and Canadian customers. For the most part, we can satisfy everyone's needs in both countries; however, various rules govern both areas. Luckily, we post the most well-know restrictions on each of our replica gun product listings; however, at the end of the day, it's up to you, the customer, to know what Western Pistols or WW2 Weapons you can and can't buy.

So what are the restrictions? For our Canadian friends, the basic restrictions are relatively easy to explain...if it is a replica gun whose real-life counterpart could fire what's thought of as modern-looking bullets, you're not allowed to bring it into the country. To be more exact, Canada only allows flintlocks, cap and ball, or percussion weapons, replica or not, to be imported. Not surprisingly, we've found that sometimes it also depends on who inspects your package at the border...you can be importing a perfectly legal Old Western replica gun, but perhaps the officer's knowledge about the types allowed is lacking and they end up rejecting it. It's kind of a crap shoot sometimes.

For our US customers, the rules aren't quite as restrictive, but that doesn't mean we're out of the woods. Puerto Rico, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and Minnesota don't allow replica firearms that date after 1898, although some do provide exceptions for theatrical, police, or other governmental use. California (suprised?) and Kansas don't restrict the dates, but they take a different approach in requiring that replica guns be shipped with a display frame or presentation box. Naturally, some localities in the US go even further, but that's the point where customers need to have some awareness.

So, you can see that a great majority of our customers can enjoy a great looking replica firearm in their living room collection or in their local playhouse while a smaller number have to work within the restrictions placed upon them by their lawmakers. Whatever the case, this website offers a great variety of firearms that can satisfy customers from any location! And remember, if you ever have a question, just ask! We can answer your questions when it comes to the larger restrictions.

Every once in awhile, I drop in an update about United Cutlery's swords and their LOTR series. Well, today brings another bit of good news for us and fans of the series who are looking to grab a piece of Middle Earth. After a very extended absence, we have finally received a fresh stock of the Officially Licensed Sword of the Witchking, click here!

On par with the beauty of the Anduril - Flame of the West blade, the Witchking sword is truly a great looking and imposing piece of weaponry. Measuring a little over 54 1/2" long, this movie replica sword is massive, making it an excellent candidate as a centerpiece to any home collection or decoration. It's engraved blade, leather grip, and Nazgul wooden plaque bring to life all the great memories found in the film. If you're serious about your LOTR collection, this is a sword you must have!

I should mention that with the "evil" blade's return, the officially licensed Narsil is not far behind and will be back in stock in the next two months. It's exciting to see all these great swords making a return....now all we need is another great movie to bring us some more cool stuff!

We've been working hard to give you a wide variety of Replica Swords and fully functional swords to choose from and we thought it was a good time to give you a little insight on what happens behind the scenes at Replica Dungeon when it comes to quality.

One look at our website and you'll know that we offer a lot more than just Replica Swords, but let's face it, we were born by the sword, so to speak. Probably one of the more difficult questions we face each day is what swords should we offer. Do we put this one online or that one? Or both? One part of that answer lies with our customers and fans through emails and phone calls. We get a TON of email everyday asking for this or that; some are good, some are not so good. Yes, we do listen! Another part comes from our own personal thoughts on the blade(s) under consideration. Is it cool? Would it appeal to enough folks? Is it built halfway decent? That last question is key.

It should come as no surprise that quality comes up a lot in our considerations. The Replica Sword industry is awash in swords of varying quality. From "toy" quality to high-end functional swords, it's all out there and wading through it all can be a real challenge at times. For us, we try hard to find good quality replicas because at the end of the day, they're not going to give you problems down the road. That being said, we do have some blades that we aren't really fond of, but they either fill a void or they're popular, warts and all. That's part of the reason we try to use a quality rating guide on as many of our replica swords as possible, but given that personal tastes and requirements vary, it's not a system without its flaws. Additionally, manufacturers can be all over the map with consistency for some blades making any rating system, even user-driven ratings, somewhat moot. Quality is one of those facets of the business we work on each and every day to maintain.

Check back with us in the future for even more behind the scenes peeks!

If you're just starting out with a sword collection, where do you start? The options are practically endless and prices are all over the map! Should you get a movie replica sword, just like the one your favorite character toted on the big screen or should you go for the more fantastical varieties?

A great choice to start is with any one of our Medieval Swords. These types of swords can fit in with practically any decor since they're neither stray too far afield of reality nor are they too specific in origin (Samurai). The "Medieval Era" everyone commonly thinks of spanned many years and encompassed a variety of cultures in all parts of Europe, giving rise to a number of different sword designs, many of which you can find on our Replica Dungeon website.

Medieval sword designs do have some mythical tones involved when you start talking about the likes of King Arthur or the LOTR series, but even those designs hold to sword types we can easily associate with European cultures. From the fancier Black & Gold King Solomon sword to the more utilitarian Hand and a Half Sword, I think the Medieval era offers a great selection to choose from when starting your collection. Pick up one of our Medieval Swords today and relive some history!

Did you know that Replica Dungeon carries a great selection of Military Swords? From ancient armies to modern day military tradition, we have a number of beautiful swords that can be used for display, drill, military ceremonial proceedings, or even practice. In addition, we're working every day to bring you even more variety!

Perhaps the most popular Military Sword we have right now is the standard NCO Sword. Crafted in high quality carbon steel with brass fittings, it's a 37" museum-quality sword with a leather scabbard that makes any presentation or retirement ceremony special. There's no better way to send off a retiring Gunny than with a great looking blade representing the tradition of proud service to the country.

Our next order of business is tracking down some great looking shadowboxes that will fit our military swords, making it possible to affix plaques, medals, and other military memorabilia. Once we get that squared away, you can be sure you'll find them in this website!

Well, after getting requests for them for a number of months now, we're proud to introduce Blank Firing Guns to our extensive collection of replica weaponry! Our Western Pistols have always been extremely popular, but there are those out there seeking something with a little more bang without moving into the real firearms arena, particularly our friends in the law enforcement training and theatrical circles.

All of our blank firing replica firearms are made from high quality metals and intended for regular use. Some are made by Umarex in Germany while others are made by Bruni and Kimar from Italy; all are very beautiful representations with a realistic approach. These are not toys by any stretch, these are the real deal as far as blank guns are concerned and can be used or displayed like any other firearm, replica or not.

In addition to the large selection of blank guns we now offer, we also have all the proper blank ammunition, holsters, and extra clips for each specific model so you don't have to play the guessing game when choosing your gun.

As with any weapon, replica or otherwise, we always preach safety and the blank firing guns are certainly no exception. Be sure to know and understand your replica firearm before using it and practice responsible use at all times. We want to you come back and visit site in one piece!
